Welcome to Adelaide
“The festival city!”
Adelaide is a picturesque city of approximately one million people, nestled amid a ring of parklands and is just 15 minutes from a selection of beautiful beaches. Adelaide is known as the food and wine capital of Australia, with more restaurants per head than any other city in Australia, and is surrounded by the country's best wine regions - the Barossa and Clare valleys to the north, the rolling hills of Mclaren Vale to the South.
The city boasts a diverse array of culinary options, with the famous Gouger St offering a multicultural feast, including Ying Chow - described by The New York Times as the best Chinese restaurant in the world. Natural delights abound, with Kangaroo Island just an hour and a half drive away. The island, is seven times as large as Singapore, and is teeming with native wildlife such as koalas, seals, echidna and Kangaroos.
Closer to home you can hug a koala at the Cleland Wildlife Park, or bicycle along Linear Park which follows the Torrens River as it winds into the hills. Sea lovers can swim with wild dolphins, or dive a number of wrecks just a short distance off the coast, including the HMAS Hobart, a former navy vessel, which was sunk off the south coast, specifically as a dive attraction.
For motor sport fans the Clipsal 500 roars through the city streets in March each year, and for those who like their sports slower paced, Adelaide and its surrounds are peppered with a fine selection of excellent golf courses. Public transport makes getting in and out of the city a breeze. Indeed, it's officially a pleasure to live here, with Adelaide ranking equal fifth alongside Sydney and Perth as ‘one of the world's most liveable cities’.
